Detail Honba Oshima Tsumugi: Rub-Dyeing Processing Demonstration
We will give a demonstration of the technique of injecting color (rub-dyeing) into the splashed pattern of Oshima Tsumugi pongee by the hands of traditional craftsmen. It is a delicate technique where dye is rubbed in, line by line, based on a design on kasurimushiro, a textile where silk thread is tight-woven. Seeing is believing. Take a look at the elaborate handwork of making kasuri (a splashed pattern).
