AWA-WASHI

Tokushima

Sturdy and warm texture brought about by handmade washi paper

We will hold an exhibition-sale of washi paper and washi paper sundries. In addition to beautiful indigo-dyed washi paper made using Tokushima Prefecture's natural sukumo indigo, washi paper with profound taste unique to handmade paper-watermarked or mixed with hemp or wood chips-will be on display. At the workshop, we will make a watojibon (book bound in Japanese style) using Awa washi paper.

Dyeing and Weaving Crafts MURATA

A specialty store handling handiwork dyeing and weaving products and original handmade kimonos

Established in the Bunsei era (1818-1830), we are a specialty store handling kimonos in general. We have been introducing rare handiwork dyeing and weaving crafts that have been handed down in each production area from forefathers’ days and handle original kimonos with the faith of “respecting individuality and creating a one-and-only item.” We also make and sell obis (broad sashes) and original drawstring pouches made with recycled cloths such as antique calico from abroad.
