One of the methods of decoration of ECHIZEN-SHIKKI lacquerware is "maki-e," painted with lacquer and gold powder. Sanao Matsuda is a master craftsman who continues to work on this technique even now, at over 90 years old. Enjoy the works of a master craftsman, who has been awarded the Prime Minister's Award and designated as an intangible cultural asset, in Ginza.

Mr. Sanao Matsuda, a contemporary master artisan who continues to refine his craftsmanship even after 90 years of age, will be visiting SEIKADO Ginza Main Store from October 17 to 19 as part of JAPAN TRADITIONAL CRAFTS WEEK 2025, where he will demonstrate his maki-e techniques.
